Whoredom Relapse

A friend of mine just loaned my Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Burning Earth for Xbox 360. Aside from having a far too long title with difficult punctuation, the game is infamous for its ultra-easy Achievement points. My friend loaned me the game in large part to see if I’d temporarily denounce my anti-point whoring stance, and I have to admit I caved in. Earning all 1,000 points in the game literally took me less than two minutes. It’s hard to deny the siren song of such easy Achievement points, but it also proves my point in a way. If everyone can earn these points so quickly, do they really do anything to prove your skills as a gamer? Clearly not. As for me, I’m back on the wagon for now. Until the next ultra-easy 1,000 points come along.
